Bioscrape, The Power of Metalcore

Bioscrape were born in June 2006 with the strong purpose of creating a very solid project, both in terms of music skills and human aspects. Their idea was to produce a kind of music beyond a single genre, blending multiple musical influences into an “mix” of original high impact sounds.
In 2007, after composing their first songs, Bioscrape recorded their homonymous demo-cd which obtained very good reviews by specialized Italian and European entities. This first record was followed by many live shows in a variety of contexts.
In 2009, they went back to recording studio and produced “AlienHate” promo-cd — four tracks that demonstrated the band musical evolution by conveying its full potential. AlienHate gave the expected results when, in 2011, Bioscrape recorded “EXP.01” their first full length album at Real Sound Studio in Parma in the next year the band signed a recording contract with Overdub Recordings. In 2014 are the protagonists of a succesfull tour in East Europe after the tour the band returned at RealSound studio to record the second album “Psychologram” that will be out in 2016 and the video of the title-track.
In Autumn 2016 the collaboration with Overdub recordings has ended, Bioscrape have a new member on electronics and synth bass ! This represents a big step forward for the project. They played in a Russian tour in spring 2017, the third album out in October 2018 while the third album “The Cage” was released in October 2018 and is available on bioscrape.net and on the main web platforms.

MWZ: Hi guys welcome to Musicwebzine ! Tell us something about the band?
Bioscrape
: Hi! It’s such a pleasure for us to have an interview with you.
Our project was born in 2006, with the aim to build an original sound with many influences in it, and a reality in which every member could feel free to express himself.
At the moment we have 3 full length albums, an Ep, a PROMO and our first demo. We played a lot in our country and a few years ago we went on tour in many country like Eastern Europe and Russia.

MWZ: How would you define your sound?
Bioscrape:
First of all, we want to say that everything we play is performed live, we don’t use any backing tracks in our live concerts. The real turning point for the band was the arriving of E in the project. At the beginning he played only keyboard parts and sound, but then we had the idea to repleace an electric bass with a synth bass, also played by E, and the sound that came out was such a beautiful surprise. The impact was so impressive!
Our sound is a mix between thrash, groove, hardcore, nu and industrial metal, our listeners always compared our sound to many different bands (pantera, slipknot, korn, etc. etc.). That’s awesome because we are only 4 people!! 😉

MWZ: “Havoc” is your new album what about the lyrics and the main differences from “The Cage” ?
Bioscrape:
All our studio works have a concept behind them. In Havoc hasn’t been so easy to write and develop a concept in only four tracks. Havoc tells about a catastrophe that would lead to the extinction of every form of life on earth. This event is told in four steps: the catastrophe itself, the demise of living creatures, the erase of life, and what remains after: nothing.
“The Cage” has a more complex concept: it tells about phobias, like the phobia of dreaming, to become a murderer, and other that really impressed us.
Our lyrics are really important because they express the concept, we consider words another instrument. In “Havoc” lyrics are apocalyptical, while in “The Cage” are more psychological and deep.

MWZ: Are you satisfied with your new album? or you would have liked to change something?
Bioscrape:
Honestly, we consider “The Cage” our last album. “Havoc” is an EP written for the starting of our collaboration with “ghost records”, our new label. We are really happy to work with them, we’re doing a great job.
In “Havoc” we tried some new things and ideas to see how they would have worked so that we could insert them in our new album, on which we’re already working on.

MWZ: There is a difference between what you listen to and what you actually play ?
Bioscrape:
Since the beginning of the project we find insoiration from every genre we listen to, not only from metal.
In this moment, for example, E could listen to classical music, J to electronic music, S to thrash metal and I to black metal.

MWZ: Which bands influenced your musical style?
Bioscrape:
It’s always hard fot us to anwer this question, because the list would be very very long 🙂
Every member of the band has always brought in the project his influences, to make them sound like bioscrape. There’s no limitation to ideas and none of the ideas is considered wrong.
For us, an interesting idea could come form a Dark Tranquility’s song, or from a Dire Straist’s one. Priority is always quality, obviously.
Our most important metal influences, that we have in common, are from bands like: pantera, slayer, Fear Factory, Grip Inc., Korn, Sepultura, Slipknot… and many more.

MWZ: Trivial question, how much you miss the live ?
Bioscrape:
For us, stage is a necessity. Live is where we really express ourselves and make the difference. We’re looking forward to come back on stage when all that situation will be solved. We miss the crowd!!!!

MWZ: Thatís all!! greeted our readers with a message!
Bioscrape:
Thank you for the time you gave us. Everyone, support original music, not covers and stuff like that… follow us on social networks to be always updated about our news!
STAY FUCKING SCRAPE!!!
