Australia has this amazing ability to produce gold on the heavier side of music. Specifically we are talking about the Power Metal trio of Canyon a freshly formed band directly from Melbourne that publishes a new project entitled “Static”. A short Ep, but intended where the riffs and the sonic structures inevitably lead us to remember Rage Against The Machine and they already do it from the Open Track “Insane”, heavy, rough and very technical. A pure rhythmic power that opens the track to something more energetic “Keep Me Waiting” intense and aggressive, thanks to a section of guitars that scratch the atmosphere. The Canyons also allow something more melodic and “restful” where the clean sound breaks the frantic rhythm of listening “Gone Before Your Time”. The imprint of the Australian band, however, remains that of a considerable sonic impact and therefore this five-track EP closes with two ballads that raise the rhythmic pull and technical depth, thanks also to a technical and well-built drums to support the rest of the instrumentation, including voice that amalgamates and completes a beautiful and pleasant picture to listen to.
