Come Hole , Doomy Grunge from Southern Rhode Island

COMA HOLE are determined to make an impact with their debut EP both musically, drawing from a plethora of genres, and lyrically tackling face on darker aspects of life. The commanding drum and bass duo fuse doom, stoner and 80s/90s grunge styles into their compelling sound.

Musicwebzine – Hi there, first of all, tell us something about the band
Eryka –
We are a two piece, heavily fuzzed out bass and drums duo from Southern Rhode Island. Steve and I have I eachother a long time and have made comments about being in a band but it’s cool after almost 10 years of friendship we are finally doing it.

Musicwebzine – Which is the main theme of your album ?
Eryka –
I wrote a lot of these songs when I was going through a really confusing and emotional time. I’ve always struggled with depression and identity issues and I’d say most of these songs express the frustration I’ve experienced with learning how to cope with and accept these feelings.

Musicwebzine – What about the cover and the title of your album ?
Eryka –
I do all the art for the band and when drawing the cover I wanted to focus on the internal divide I feel often; the lively, ambitious side that has an abundance of confidence, and the soul sucking depressive side that leaves me questioning who I am. I also talk about my appreciation for nature on the album and so I wanted to combine natural elements with self struggle, mortality and morbidity.

Musicwebzine – Which bands has influenced your sound ?
Eryka –
Alice in Chains is a huge musical influence for me, but I’d also say Soundgarden and Queens of the Stone Age . Even a handful of newer bands like Windhand and Royal Thunder really left an impression on me when I first heard them because their energy and authenticity is something I aspire to have in the music we create.

Musicwebzine – Do you think you can still live only on music?
Eryka –
I live off of multiple forms of art so that’s a tough question. However, if I had to give up all except for one, music would be the winner.
