Erode The Dream – “Salt”
Studs Terkel said one time, “It isn’t the calendar age that determines a man’s restlessness.” For an artist, that restlessness is a gift. It’s fuel for fighting stagnation and taking risks that pay off.
The members of Erode the Dream have been making music, art, and photos in the rock, heavy metal, and hardcore scenes for years now. They’re still headbangers, still pissed off, but they’ve outlived enough trends to know what sounds they want to make.
Erode the Dream started at the end of 2023 in Charleston, S.C., when Ryan Martin (Lead Guitar), Jon Stout (Rhythm Guitar), Robbie Weise (Bass), and Steven Wilson (Drums) got together to hash out some musical ideas. They honed in on a grungier sound than their previous projects, with straight-ahead punk passages broken up by atmospheric washes of guitar noise.
Enter vocalist Mauricio Masãre. A Colombia-born architect and visual artist by trade, he paints murals under the moniker Masãre. Visually, he tends to depict fragmented and distorted human faces. As a member of the band, he brings the seasoned sound of an old-school metal frontman who’s not afraid to wail, in English or in Spanish.
On April 16th 2024 they released their self produced & recorded debut single “The Waiting”.
The single is available on all streaming outlets and was Mixed & Mastered By Eric Rickert (Big Animal Studios) in Charleston SC.
