Fourth Son South release new Ep “Machine”

South African Hard Rockers Fourth Son South have been hard at work eagerly crafting the follow-up to their 2020 debut album “The Sounds Around Your Head” and today the wait is finally over, as the indomitable quartet unleash their anticipated EP “Machine”
Dutch-born founder, guitarist and vocalist Peter Toussaint penned a potent ensemble of 4 fresh tracks the past year, marked by strong lyrical emphasis on positivity in dark and challenging times. These new tracks are supplemented by a novel mix of their successful 2021 single Hold On.

Peter Toussaint shares “The songs on Machine are about life and hope. Life has been hard during the past two years, but there is always a silver lining that we can focus on. The songs Hold On and Power to the People were written earlier in 2021, and the other three songs in September. I wrote all songs and recorded most of the instrument and vocal tracks in my home studio. The drums for Hold On were recorded earlier in the year at Wagon Wheel Records in Pretoria, the other drum tracks were recorded at Content Link Studio, also in Pretoria.”

“Tomorrow’s Better is about the confusing life that one can find yourself in. What are the values that you should cherish? And again, if you’re not there yet today, tomorrow is a new day with new light. As soon as I wrote the song Tomorrow’s Better, I knew that there should be a male and a female vocalist, responding to each other. Our drummer Carel also plays in a band called Thinking Feet where Melissa does the lead vocals. She’s got an amazing voice and I knew I wanted to do this song with her. Thankfully, she also liked the song and came to the studio to sing her parts. She is such a great person to work with and I’m very glad I asked her.”

Fourth Son South is a Rock group from South Africa formed by Dutch-born guitar maestro Peter Toussaint. After his debut solo release One Day (2018), Peter enlisted bass player Franco Jamneck and drummer Carel Viljoen and toured as a trio under the name Peter T Band. At the end of 2019, the band recorded their debut EP called Another Mile under the name Fourth Son South. This was released in April 2020, just as the world turned to lockdown with Covid-19. During lockdown, Peter wrote and recorded songs that formed the basis of their first full length album The Sounds Around Your Head. Guitarist Dale McHardy was subsequently recruited to perfect the live sound and the quartet proceeded to release another single Hold On in July 2021.

To date Fourth Son South enjoyed success with their singles Reflections, Positive and Hold On achieving positions on several global charts. In October 2021 Fourth Son South represented South Africa at the international La Ley del Rock Online Festival held in Argentina and Italy.
