South African Punkers ‘Winterstand’ Release New EP “These Days”

South African Alternative Pop Punk Rockers Winterstand have been hard at work honouring their Alt-Punk forefathers, contemporising and carving out their own sound. Not deterred by the pandemic, their diverse talent, drive and passion built a sizeable momentum fuelled by several consecutive releases, comprised of soaring guitar riffs and catchy melodic vocals, set against the measured ferocity of the bass and drum rhythm section. Their new EP “These Days” is available from today on all Streaming Platforms, with an energetic Release Show at The Daisy Jones Bar on Saturday 16 July with special guests Ethyl Ether. The EP is all about life and mastering its challenges. One can choose to be depressed by events, but life goes by, and before you know it, all of the times you could have spent enjoying it passed you by. No matter how hard things are, one should always realise that there is a solution out there. Winterstand had major setbacks and challenges, not only as a band, but as individuals, but in spite of that, they chose to not give-up, and at the same time, they chose to stick to their morals while doing so.

Band members Michael Jones (Vocals, Guitar), Stephen Brink-Jones (Guitar, Backing Vocals), Michael Cromie (Bass), and Albert Ackermann (Drums) bring together their diverse talent and passion for the rock-loving masses. First formed in 2017 in Hermanus, South Africa, by Guitarist / Singer Michael Jones and Drummer Albert Ackermann over a love of bands like Nirvana, Muse, Foo Fighters, and Pearl Jam, the duo knew they wanted to create music together, but wanted to do it right. The quartet was complete after a long search with Stephen Brink-Jones on second Guitar and Michael Cromie on Bass. Getting down to business, the band began to create music. Not to be deterred by the pandemic, Winterstand brought their vision of Alternative Pop Punk Rock to life and released their first single “Where Do You Go” in early 2020. This was closely followed up by their first EP, “Glorious Life”, accompanied by a music video for the EP’s title track. Riding the unstoppable momentum, the band is excited to release their sophomore EP “These Days” on Friday 1 July, with an energetic Release Show at The Daisy Jones Bar on Saturday 16 July with special guests Ethyl Ether.
