Carnified announces new EP and deal with Ola Englund’ Solar Guitars

Brazilian veteran death metal Carnified resumed its activities in 2021, taking everyone by surprise with the single “Nocturna“, which featured the unique voice of Sarah Jezebel Deva, who previously worked with Cradle of Filth, Therion and Hecate Enthroned. Now in 2022, approaching three decades of extreme metal, the power trio formed by Dan Loureiro (vocals, bass), Marcos Franco (guitars) and Vicente Azevêdo (drums), is getting ready for a new release, the EP “Carnage For The Gods“, which will be available in the coming weeks.

While the group awaits the release of the EP, vocalist and bassist Dan Loureiro is pleased to announce that he joined the cast of Solar Guitars, a company created by Swedish musician Ola Englund (The Haunted, ex-Six Feet Under) and works with guitarists and bassists from the biggest names in the metal scene, such as Evergrey, Darkthrone, At The Gates, Epica, Blind Guardian, King Diamond, among others.

The musician commented on the partnership: “It’s hard to describe in words the feeling of being accepted to do something you didn’t believe you could, that you didn’t think was within your reach. I’ve known and followed Solar Guitars since its birth, and it’s always been a dream to have one of their instruments

When I contacted them, I saw that besides being a great brand, they are great people and professionals. We managed to close this deal, and I can only say that nothing is as gratifying as being recognized by an international brand that makes very high level instruments like Solar. I’m very happy to be part of the Solar Guitars family. The new Carnified songs have already been recorded with this Solar bass, which came from the deal. Expect a lot to come in the next few months.

Carnified is one of the veteran forces from Brazilian extreme metal scene. Formed in 1994 by Alex Oliveira (vocals), Eduardo Araújo (bass), Leonardo Pinheiro (guitars) and Vicente Azevêdo (drums), the group released its first demo, “Putrid Development“, in 1994. In 1996 the group’s music changed, influenced by the British death/doom metal acts, which resulted in their second demo, “The Carnification“. In 1998 their line-up also expanded, becoming a sextet, with which they recorded their first EP, “O Primeiro Elo“. With lyrics that tell stories of a world inhabited by gods who envy the human form, they released in 2001 “Where The Gods Bleed“, their debut album.

In 2005, the group went into a hiatus that ended only in 2020. “We wouldn’t go back if it weren’t for something with real meaning,” explained the drummer Vicente Azevêdo. After working on the re-release of their old work, the band, which is now a power trio formed by Dan Loureiro (vocals, bass), Marcos Franco (guitar) and Vicente Azevêdo (drums), released “Nocturna“, a single with the goal of going back into their essence.
