Desalmado releases animated video about the emptiness of human existence
Desalmado, Death Grind quartet from Brazil, releases the video for “Across the Land”, song from the album ‘Mass Mental Devolution’ which has an announced release date for October 8, 2021. “Across the Land” is the the band’s first video clip in animation, being the third single released from their upcoming LP.
The film was directed by Walter de Andrade, who worked with the band on the music video for the song “Hollow”. According to vocalist Caio Augusttus, the director managed to capture all the essence of the band’s original idea for the video. “We had the idea of filming someone in various places, with various contexts in this imminent search for a place in the world. Walter has been making our videos and asked permission to create this animation. We consented and he threw himself headlong, it was something that we didn’t have dimension to expect, but particularly surprised me a lot, we wouldn’t be able to film in places like the one proposed by him, it was fantastic, above expectations!”, concludes the musician.
Images of a character walking and wandering through different scenarios of an unpopulated world are presented alongside scenes of the band playing the song. About the lyrical perspective, Caio comments that “the lyrics are about the search for a place, a land, a time, sinking in the emptiness that inhabits in any of us in the most difficult moments we live during our existence. It is a song based on the burden of facing the difficulties of the world”.
“Across the Land” was also released this Thursday, September 2nd, on major streaming platforms. For bassist Bruno Teixeira, the track is one of the strongest on the record. “As soon as we finished writing the song it was already clear to me that she would be one of the highlights of the album. Whenever we play this sound in rehearsal it’s clear that she has a very strong energy, I can’t wait to introduce her to the album. Alive!”, he comments.
Formed in 2004, Desalmado is today at the forefront of the national underground scene, being one of the most active and relevant bands today. The band brings political and social questions and reflections on human nature in the theme of its lyrics. The band’s latest releases expose the bowels of a perverse and alienated world subservient to a system manipulated by the ruling classes.
