Animal Sun hopes to be "More Than A Friend" with new video

Love is a risk, it may or may not play in our favor, and electro pop rock band ANIMAL SUN explores that delicate dance in their new video “MORE THAN A FRIEND”. Released on June 4th, following the catchy track’s digital drop on May 28th, the video portrays what can happen if you decide to take that chance.

“Our single “more than a friend” explores the familiar theme of loving someone who sees you as nothing more than a friend. It’s gut-wrenchingly painful to watch the one you love never see you in the same way, almost feeling comical at times throughout the lull of self pity. This song explores this emotion but also sheds light on the fact there is hope. Formed in 2015, Animal Sun is led by brothers vocalist/songwriter Steven Blake and drummer William Alton who both originally played small clubs along the east coast. By late 2017, they started appearing on local radio and opening for bands such as The Frights (Epitaph) as well as minor touring throughout the region. After establishing a fanbase, the two moved to Los Angeles where they would meet keyboardist/percussionist Tyler DeCastro and bassist Adam Gardner.

Their single “girl in blue” was released in June 2019 and quickly made its way onto alternative stations such as idobi radio and KROQ’s Locals Only. The success allowed the band to begin playing to packed rooms, including the legendary Troubadour. The following year, in June of 2020, they released the single “Still Believe” which was premiered on American Songwriter.

From their upcoming debut album, the band has already released the tracks “girl in blue”, “every word”, and “touch” from the record. While “girl in blue” has garnered over one million streams so far, “touch” has already reached over 200K since its release in April and has gained traction on KROQ’s Locals Only, placing in the #2 spot while up against artists such as Billie Eilish and Tessa Violet featuring lovelytheband.

Animal Sun released their new video “more than a friend” on June 4th, 2021 and their debut album ‘echoes of a dream’ is set to drop on June 11th.
