Calmos & Berzingue, share new Ep “Belleville”

After being operating for the past few years under the name ALVA, with debut releases on Pont Neuf, Chez Damier’s sub-label Inner Balance or on Dansu Discs, the Parisian duo Calmos & Berzingue, composed of Raphaël Bureau-Mirat and Alexandre Guerin, is back with the EP Belleville. With this new maxi, they pay tribute to those years which saw them immerse themselves in the production of their first tracks, in the famous Parisian district.
“Java”, with its catchy stabs and its Moog riffs, refers to the Bellevillois club in which the two friends tasted their first nocturnal emotions, with the parties thrown by My Love Is Underground or Nick V’s La Mona amongst others. It is then with “Pali Kao” and “Piat”, name of the streets adjacent to the park where Raph and Alex hung out during their studies, that the duo takes us to more housy tones, mixing aerial layers with FM synths and acoustic samples. “Burnouf”, from the name of the back street of the school which allowed their meeting, closes this maxi with a progression of chords as powerful, as introspective, as an invitation to relive those nocturnal moments which are now sorely lacking in this scene
