Besomora is an Australian melodic death metal band formed by Daniel Zolotic and Vlad Martynov. The name Besomora is derived from Slavic mythology and draws inspiration from dark spirits and demons, as reflected in the band’s music. Bringing fresh life to the melodic death metal sound through European culture and personal experiences, Besomora demonstrates a wide range of old school metal influences with sounds resonant of melodic death. Musicwebzine – Hi there, first of all, tell us something about the band
Besomora – Hey MusicZineOnline, We are a melodic death metal band Besomora from Sydney, Australia.
What’s so interesting about us is that we all have different backgrounds, two members of the band are from Europe, that moved to Australia a few years ago, and two other guys are aussies. Our cultural background has a massive impact on our music and that’s one of reasons why we’re different from many other local bands.
Musicwebzine – Which is the main theme of your album ?
Besomora – We’ve just released a new single which is actually a cover song of one of the most famous songs in rock history, I was made for lovin’ you. The main difference between our version and Kiss’ is that it doesn’t sound like disco rock anymore, our version is more aggressive and heavier but still beautiful and sexy. I guess we’ve done what Kiss should have done back in late 70s instead of moving towards that disco sound.
Musicwebzine – What about the cover and the title of your album ?
Besomora – In keeping with the refined approach taken to the music, it was important to match that sexiness and beauty with a slightly provocative cover. Metal generally lacks that risqué touch, so a seductive colour scheme and beautiful model create that style and naughtiness which will surely get most guys’ (and girls’) attention. At the end of the day, it’s art, both visual and musical, so it’s best when viewed together. That is best captured by our music video for the single.
Musicwebzine – Which bands have influenced your sound ?
Besomora – We all listen to a range of metal: heavy metal, thrash and death metal. Even within death metal, we listen to different styles, like melodic, old school, technical. We all also enjoy music that’s not metal, such as blues, rock n roll, jazz/funk and electronic. But melodic death metal would be the most influential, namely In Flames.
Musicwebzine – Do you think you can still live only on music?
Besomora – At the moment, no, we all have other sources doing ‘normal person’ things (working in an office, going to uni etc). Who knows – we’ll try our best to change that
Musicwebzine – That’s all!! greeted our readers with a message!
Besomora – Thanks for checking us out everyone. We look forward to seeing you at a gig one day
